Witness the Most Awaited
Face Off: Kapil Dev and MS Dhoni
Exhibiting an “A” Game!
Kapil Dev – the most famous all rounder of his time – devised a dangerous bowling attack that perfectly suited to English conditions, and ultimately brought the Cricket World Cup in India for the first time in 1983.
The country got to enjoy the victory again after 28 years under the captaincy of MS Dhoni, in 2011. The winning six hit by Dhoni fetched India the World Cup in the 49th over, to create the memory that will remain not just in Indian cricket history but in every cricket lover’s heart.
But the Cricket World Cup is not the only thing common between the two of these greatest captains that Indian cricket teams have ever had. Their passion for golf has remained a ray of hope for all their fans to see them again, on a golf course, if not on a cricket ground.
We are organising this historic event where both the legendary cricketers will play a complete 18-hole golf tournament. This would be a paradise for Indian cricket as well as golf fans – an ‘Ace’ chance to witness the cricket legends enjoy “A” game of golf!
Metuchen Golf and Country Club
Situated in Edison, New Jersey, Metuchen Golf and Country Club is spread across over 6,700 yards, designed to have the best experience for players of all abilities.
The club was originally 9 holes, designed by the golf professional and Greens keeper Charles Lang. The full 18 holes were completed in 1931 and have undergone several changes since.
The 1st hole is one of the hardest holes on the course. It plays longer than the yardage indicates because it is slightly uphill. The drive should favor the right side of the fairway to give the player the easiest angle to the hole. The front nine is long, with two par 4s playing well over 400 yards, and one uphill par 3 that plays much longer than the distance on the card.
The signature hole, the 14th, has the famous Metuchen tree in the center of the fairway at 160 yards from the green. With a wide landing area, it needs to be decided which side of the tree to play a tee shot. Then one needs to negotiate a greenside pond before attempting to put on a green that is very difficult to read. It is a hole to remember!
The course is in outstanding shape due to the fine work of the superintendent, Jason Osterhoudt, and his crew. The course conditions are often considered some of the best in the state, which makes the golf course at Metuchen Golf and Country Club, truly, a hidden jewel located right around the corner.
